We do not print a derating curve, because the honest figure depends on your fluid, your vessel and your stir bar. The working rule on our own bench is simpler: if your liquid is noticeably thicker than water, treat the rated capacity as the ceiling rather than the target, and move up one model.

Top speed matters for low-viscosity work: pulling a deep vortex in a water-like solvent, dissolving solids quickly, re-suspending a settled precipitate. Most routine mixing — keeping a reaction homogeneous, blending miscible liquids, evening out the temperature through a batch — lives well below the maximum. The zero end of the range is just as useful: a slow, gentle start lets you ramp into a fragile suspension instead of shocking it.

A judgment we give customers every week: if your fluid is thin and simply needs to keep moving, any stirrer with a 0-2600 r/min range has more speed than you will use. Why Does Torque Matter More Than Top Speed?

On a magnetic stirrer, torque is the grip of the magnetic coupling between the drive magnet under the plate and the stir bar inside your vessel.
